Are you using monday.com and wondering what AI Credits are all about? Since Q4 2025, monday.com has fundamentally changed its AI billing model, and many users are confused: How much does an AI action actually cost? How long will the starting credit last? And which features remain free? In this post, we answer all the key questions about monday.com AI Credits, pricing and packages.

What exactly are monday.com AI Credits?

monday.com AI Credits are the internal currency used for all AI-powered features within the platform. Whenever you or your team deliberately trigger an AI action, credits are used.

Brief summary

  • 1 AI Credit costs $0.01 (with an annual subscription)
  • 1 AI action costs 8 credits, i.e. $0.08
  • Each account receives a one-off starting balance of between 6,000 and 12,000 credits
  • After that, you can top up your credit packages from $960 per year
  • Many valuable AI features don’t cost any credits at all

How does the new system work?

The principle is simple: you start with an initial credit balance of between 6,000 and 12,000 credits, depending on your plan. This allows you to test and use all paid AI features straight away. Once your credit balance has been used up, you can purchase additional credit packages via the admin panel.

One credit costs $0.01; a standard AI action consumes 8 credits, which works out at $0.08 per action. Thanks to this fine-grained system, you are only charged for what the AI actually does. If an action comes to nothing or fails, no credits are deducted.

How are AI Credits used?

The 24-hour rule – per item, not per action

Perhaps the most important point that many people overlook: credits are charged per item within 24 hours, not per individual action. Even if three AI blocks are running on the same item, only 8 credits are charged once.

This means that if you bundle several AI actions on the same entry within a single day, you’ll save a significant amount.

Here is a brief overview of the costs for each service:

AI Pricing Table
Action Credits Price
AI Block (Prompt, sentiment, summary, etc.) 8 $0,08
AI workflow with AI Block 8 per cycle $0,08
Sales Agent –Call (up to 5 mins)) 150 $1,50
Sales Agent – SMS 30 $0,30
Lead Agent – per lead 10 $0,10

When are credits not used?

Not every AI interaction costs money. Credits are not deducted in the following cases:

  • The AI action fails or returns an error
  • The action does not change the item in any way
  • You are simply viewing a preview
  • You are using one of the free AI features (see below)

The starter credit: What does your account get?

Since Q4 2025, every new monday.com account has received a one-off starter credit to try out the AI features:

Standard plan: Receives 6,000 credits

Pro plan: Receives 6,000 credits

Enterprise plan: Receives 12,000 credits

Top-up credit packages: prices and options

Once the initial credit balance has been used up, admins can purchase new credit packages via the Admin Panel → AI Usage.

Starter pack
  • 8000 Credits
  • Price per year: $960
Standard package
  • 20000 Credits
  • Price per year: $2,
Other packages:
  • On request!
Monthly subscription packages:
  • Starter: 8,000 credits per month for $100

Monthly plans cost around 25% more than annual subscriptions. If you use AI features regularly, an annual subscription works out much cheaper.

Note for Enterprise customers: For larger volumes, self-service purchasing is not available. In such cases, top-ups must be arranged via the relevant account executive.

Important information regarding billing

  • Purchasing credits does not change your existing billing cycle
  • For annual plans, credits are calculated on a pro rata basis for the remaining term
  • With monthly plans, credits are reset every month

Monitoring your usage: How to keep track

Admins can view their current usage at any time in the Admin Panel → AI Usage:

  • Breakdown per user
  • Filter by user or feature
  • Export usage data as a download
Exclusive to Enterprise: Set limits per user, receive notifications when specific thresholds are reached, and restrict availability if limits are exceeded.

What happens when all the credits have been used up?

  • Users see a notification banner on the interface
  • New AI actions can no longer be initiated
  • Automations already running with AI Blocks will continue to run
  • All free features remain available without restriction

How many credits does your team actually need?

This is best illustrated using specific scenarios, as the answer depends heavily on how extensively you use AI.

Scenario 1:

The small team: There are 10 of you and you use AI features from time to time – for example, to summarise texts or add automations using AI Blocks. With around 50 actions per week, you’ll use up about 1,600 credits a month. The starting balance of 6,000 credits will easily last you almost four months. After that, the Starter Package with 8,000 credits will cover your needs for a further five months – without a major investment.

Scenario 2:

The average team in day-to-day operations: with 30 people relying on AI-powered workflows every day, usage increases significantly. Around 200 actions per week amount to roughly 6,400 credits per month – the starting credit balance is used up in just under a month. For this usage profile, we recommend the Standard package with 20,000 credits, which will last you around three months.

Scenario 3:

CRM team with Sales Agent: Anyone who actively uses the monday Sales Agent – i.e. automating calls and qualifying leads via text message – is operating on a whole different scale. Just 20 calls and 50 SMS messages per week add up to around 18,000 credits a month. A standard package is quickly used up here; an individually negotiated Enterprise package makes much more sense in this case.

Conclusion: The new credit system is worth it if you use it properly

The new monday.com AI Credits model is more transparent and granular than the old system with its monthly free allowance. The effective price per action remains unchanged at $0.08 – what’s new is the improved predictability and control. Those who plan ahead can start by making use of the numerous free features, such as Formula Builder, Docs Assistant or Deal Insights, before even considering purchasing additional credits.
