With its May 2026 updates, monday.com is ushering in a new era: the platform is evolving from a specific range of AI-powered products into a unified AI work platform, with artificial intelligence at its core. In this post, we’ll show you all the new features, what’s changed, and how you can benefit from them.
monday AI Work Platform
The new monday AI Work Platform Experience
Update status: Being rolled out in phases (Enterprise access expected from June)
monday.com is undergoing a fundamental transformation: the platform is shifting from a model in which AI complements individual products to a unified AI Work Platform where teams of humans and AI agents work together to execute complex workflows and collaborate.

The main change is to the navigation: the new design introduces a revamped left-hand sidebar that provides quick access to all the key areas of the platform.

The new ‘More’ menu gives you access to additional features, such as the Automation Hub, via a drop-down menu. New additions include the Agent Builder (for creating and managing monday agents) and a dedicated AI Governance tab in the admin panel, which allows you to manage AI usage and permissions across your entire organisation.

Added value
The new interface reduces friction and boosts productivity, as you need fewer resources to do the same amount of work.
Agent Builder
Status: Being rolled out in phases (Enterprise access expected from June)
With Agent Builder, you can create and manage your own AI agents directly within monday.com – natively on the platform, without the need for external tools or programming skills. These agents operate within the full context of your work and have access to all relevant data.

What your agents can do:
Access to data & context (input): The agent accesses monday data (boards, documents, files), incorporates external context (files, integrations) and uses web search to find up-to-date information. However, this can be customised or restricted depending on your organisation’s requirements, ensuring that data security is always maintained.
Understanding & Decision-making (Reasoning): The agent analyses data, extracts insights and makes autonomous decisions – based on your work context and your defined rules.
Actions & Execution (Output): The agent creates and updates monday entities, triggers workflows and automations, communicates with external systems, and always operates within the defined permissions.
Use Case
You create a "Recruiting Agent" that automatically categorises new applications, assigns them to the relevant teams and notifies recruitment managers – without any manual intervention.
monday AI Governance
Status: Fully rolled out
The new AI Governance Panel provides administrators with a central hub from which to monitor and control AI usage across the entire organisation. It covers four key areas:
AI permissions
You control access to all AI features at account level and manage role-based access controls (RBAC) for specific AI capabilities. This allows you to retain full control over who is permitted to use which AI features.

Usage Limits
You set credit limits – at account, feature, user or department level. This helps you prevent uncontrolled spending and plan your AI budget effectively.
Credit Usage
A comprehensive dashboard shows you in real time how AI credits are being used across the organisation. This allows you to identify where the greatest value is being created and where there is room for improvement.

Agent Directory
You can see at a glance which AI agents are active within the company – including all the relevant details.

Use Case
As an IT administrator, you set it so that only the sales department has access to AI blocks, whilst all other departments will, for the time being, only use the AI SideAIck. You set the monthly credit limit for the entire company at 50,000 credits.
Conclusion
The May 2026 updates mark a real turning point for monday.com: the platform is no longer ‘a tool with AI features’, but an AI-centred work platform where people and agents work hand in hand.
Whether you want to build your own agents, manage AI usage within your organisation, or get started with professional support – monday.com provides the foundation for all of this.
