WeWeb: No-Code App Builder, 2026 Pricing and Limits

WeWeb is a visual builder for web apps such as customer portals and internal tools. You design the interface with drag and drop and connect a backend of your choice or WeWeb's native one. Since the April 2026 pricing update, you pay separately for the seat plan (from $20 a month) and hosting (from $13 a month). The limits are the lack of server-side rendering and the learning curve. For Swiss projects, the hosting region of WeWeb Cloud needs to be clarified before you start.

WeWeb app builder

WeWeb is a visual builder for web apps: customer portals, internal tools, interfaces for SaaS products. You build the interface with drag and drop and connect a backend. This article shows what WeWeb can do in 2026, what it costs, where it hits its limits and how it compares with Bubble, Softr and Lovable.

What is WeWeb?

WeWeb is a no-code builder for the interface of web apps. Unlike Wix or Squarespace, you do not build a company website with it but applications with login, roles, forms and data views. The layout is responsive and the logic runs through visual workflows. If needed, you import your own Vue components or add custom code.

Note: The front end is the visible part of a web application that users interact with, for example layout, buttons and forms.

A backend comes on top. WeWeb ships with a native one (tables, authentication, file storage) that is included in the hosting plan. Alternatively, you connect Xano, Supabase, Airtable or any REST or GraphQL API.

What WeWeb can do in 2026

  • Editor: drag and drop, Figma import, custom components, full CSS control.
  • Data: Xano, Supabase, Airtable, REST and GraphQL APIs or the native backend.
  • Workflows: visual logic for sign-up, orders, forms and API calls.
  • WeWeb AI: generates interfaces and logic from prompts. Every plan includes a monthly token allowance that does not roll over to the next month.
  • MCP server: external AI clients such as Claude or ChatGPT build pages and workflows directly in the project. For ongoing access you need Pro or Partner.
  • Code export and self-hosting from Essential, plus GitHub sync.

WeWeb pricing 2026

Since the pricing update in April 2026, WeWeb separates two things: the seat plan (who builds in the editor) and the hosting plan (where the app runs). You need both unless you host it yourself. All prices are in USD, as of September 2026.

Seat plans

Hosting plans

An example: Essential ($20) plus front-end-only hosting ($13) comes to $33 a month. If you host it yourself, the hosting cost falls away. Backend costs come on top if you use Xano or Supabase. You can find current prices on the WeWeb pricing page.

Where WeWeb hits its limits

  • No server-side rendering: According to nocodeassistant.agency, WeWeb has confirmed that SSR is not on the 2026 roadmap. For public pages that should rank on Google, this is a disadvantage. That is why we build marketing pages in Webflow and the app in WeWeb.
  • Learning curve: You need a basic understanding of CSS, responsive layout and data models.
  • Web only: WeWeb apps run as a responsive website or a progressive web app in the browser, not as a native iOS or Android app.
  • Backend costs: You pay for an external backend on top of the WeWeb plan.

WeWeb, Bubble, Softr and Lovable compared

ToolApproachBackendStrengthLimit
WeWebVisual front-end builder with full UI controlNative or external (Xano, Supabase, Airtable, REST)Code export and self-hostingLearning curve, no SSR
BubbleFront end, database and logic in one platformOwn databaseEverything in one placeCosts depend on workload (workload units), not just the plan
SoftrReady-made blocks and templatesMostly Airtable and Google SheetsQuick start, low learning curveNo code export, backend logic stays shallow
LovableAI generates front end and backend from promptsSupabase or Lovable CloudPrototype in a short timeTied to Supabase, complex business logic is difficult

As of September 2026, compiled from vendor and comparison pages. Softr fits if Airtable is your data source and the app stays simple. Bubble fits if you want everything in one tool and can keep the workload under control. Lovable suits quick prototypes. WeWeb fits if interface and backend should stay separate and you want to take the code with you.

Who is WeWeb suitable for?

For a customer portal with login and roles that connects to an existing backend. For an internal tool for teams that work with Excel and email today. For a SaaS MVP that later runs on your own infrastructure. WeWeb is less suitable for public marketing pages and native mobile apps.

WeWeb and Swiss data protection law (FADP)

As soon as your app processes personal data, the revised Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP, in German: DSG) applies in Switzerland. If a service provider processes data on your behalf, you need a data processing agreement (Art. 9 FADP). WeWeb publishes a Data Processing Agreement with a list of sub-processors.

Where the data sits depends on the setup. With an external backend, the personal data sits there, and you choose the backend's location, for example with Xano or Supabase. If you use the native backend of WeWeb Cloud, the hosting region is not clearly stated in the public documentation. You should clarify this with WeWeb before starting a project. If you want to control the location yourself, export the code and host it yourself (from Essential). If data is transferred abroad, Art. 16 FADP also applies. This is not legal advice.

Combining WeWeb with Xano

Blinno builds customer portals and internal tools with WeWeb as the front end. Xano is a common backend for this. How the two work together is covered in the article WeWeb and Xano: The perfect combination for web development.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can no-code tools build complex enterprise solutions?

Yes. Tools like Bubble, Xano, or Mendix are now powerful enough for business-critical applications with high user volumes, complex databases, and strict compliance requirements—not just for simple prototypes.

Are no-code and low-code tools suitable for enterprise companies?

Yes, provided that governance and security are considered from the start. Platforms like Mendix or monday.com offer roles, permissions, and compliance features that ensure everything remains manageable even as complexity grows.

What is the difference between no-code and low-code?

No-code requires no programming at all, as everything is handled via visual building blocks. Low-code works similarly but additionally allows you to insert your own code in specific areas whenever you need more control or custom logic.
